What are Pi Nodes?
The fourth role in the Pi ecosystem is a node, which operates on desktops and laptops rather than smartphones. Like previous blockchains, Pi Nodes will be in charge of verifying transactions on a distributed ledger and resolving issues with maintaining a distributed currency by getting all nodes to agree on the sequence in which to record new transactions.
The Pi Node will stick to the user-centric design tenet, unlike the majority of other cryptocurrency projects. By installing a desktop application on their PCs, average people will be able to set up a node without the need for extensive technical skills. Pioneers can turn their devices’ node software on and off using this computer program, enabling or disabling them to function as nodes.

Selection Criteria for Pi Nodes and Pi SuperNodes
After an initial screening period, Pi Nodes and Pi SuperNodes will be selected based on the following criteria. While both will be assessed on similar criteria, the threshold for Nodes will be lower than SuperNodes.
- Uptime (i.e., Online 24/7)
- Good internet connection (fast and stable)
- Ability to open ports on local router (initially)
- Adequate processor and memory (check table for recommendations)
- Previous contributions to the Pi community
- Security circles
